MANILA, PHILIPPINES — On February 7, 2019 at noon, 4A’s Creativity Guild of the Philippines announced the brief for the Young Kidlat Competition, and started a 24-hour craze to create the best campaign to represent the country internationally. The brief was to craft a campaign that removes the stigma surrounding mental health, an issue that deeply affects not only the local creative industry, but the whole world, regardless of field. The winning entry and team wins the opportunity of a lifetime to be the Philippine representatives in Young Lotus in Thailand.

To the Guild’s utmost surprise, 29 entries were submitted at 12 nn today from 15 of the best local agencies. Less than 24 hours to conceptualise and create materials but the young creatives did not disappoint — the quality of work produced was able to truly showcase the richness of creative talent in the country.

The entries were reviewed and discussed today by this year’s jury members: Manuel Villafania (BBDO Guerrero), Jake Tesoro (FCB), Ryan Rubillar (Nuworks Interactive), Eugene Demata (Campaigns & Grey), Jerry Hizon (Dentsu Jayme Syfu), Teeny Gonzales (Seven AD), and CJ De Silva Ong (TBWA\SMP).

After a whole afternoon of deliberation and discussion, the winners have finally been decided.

The team that will represent the Philippines in Young Lotus is Team # 9 — Arri Veloso and Jai Bautista of Publicis JimenezBasic with their “Annual Mental Exam” that gives the required company “Annual Physical Exam” a much-needed twist inwardly, to focus on the mind.
