On its 52nd year anniversary, The New York Festivals Awards recognizes "The World’s Best WorkTM," entries on feature-length, short and documentary films; informational, educational and industrial film productions; and corporate and home video.
Restructuring occur in category revamping, the judging process, and changes in pricing. Categories have been streamlined for ease and efficiency for entrants and jurors. Features and short films have Technical/craft categories that include direction, cinematography, animation, visual effects, music, sound design, art direction and production design.
Entries are welcome until September 29, 2008. Ten percent discount is granted to entries received before September 8. Restructuring includes pricing, from a detailed per-category system to a more efficient system of three basic price points. Entry fees are: Single entry US$200, Single (Technical/Craft) US$250, Series US$300. There is also a special student rate of US$100.
Winners of The New York Festivals Film and Video Awards will be announced at a Gala on January 29, 2009. An international Grand Jury, will conduct judging both online and in live sessions, to maximize the advantage of both formats to “give us the opportunity to further internationalize our juries, and the ability to execute individual as well as group sessions and allows for the dual advantages of an easier submission process and most importantly, effective, comprehensive judging” said Executive Director Joel Goodman.
Of the overall restructuring and streamlining, Goodman adds, “Our mission remains the same: to recognize and award the best work of the past year."
