MANILA – The adobo Design Awards Asia 2018 (aDAA) with this year’s theme, “Design Solutions in a Connected World”, is back to champion and ignite the exploration of creativity in every professional and aspiring artist.
The theme emphasizes the changing of user experiences brought about by the rise of digital media. This new medium requires different aesthetics and designs that are appropriate for the experience of the person using it. This year, the aDAA will honor design work that give solutions in a digitally connected world.
The adobo Design Awards Asia 2018 awards night will take center stage at the BGC Arts Center on April 25, 2018.
adobo Design Awards Asia 2018 Categories
The Professional Category is open to all design professionals and companies in Asia whose work has been released between January 01, 2017 to March 03, 2018. Entries submitted must have been commissioned by a client or published and produced for advertising and promotional purposes or released for public consumption.
Nineteen Professional Categories for this year include: Press & Poster, Packaging Design, Outdoor, Product Design, Corporate/Branding Identity, Book Design, Magazine & Newspaper Design, Film Advertising, Film/Video Craft, Graphic Design, Production Design, Illustration, Wearable Design, Typography, Digital/Interactive Design, Photography, Mobile, Photography, and Environmental/Spatial Design.
Entry fee for the Professional Category is Php 5,500/entry and USD 140/international entry.
There will also be an Open Category which accepts entries from professionals, freelancers, students, and amateurs. Entries for this category must be new and in line with this year’s theme. The work for the Open Category will be judged based on the brilliance and feasibility of the idea, and in the case of a finished product, the potential of the work.
Entry fee for the Open Category is Php 1,000/entry for professionals. There is no entry fee for students and amateurs.
The adobo Design Awards 2018 deadline for submission of entries is on March 10, 2018. Judging/Exhibit will be on March 20-21, 2018. After judging/exhibit, a mini conference of design known as the adobo Design Series will be held on March 22, 2018, and to conclude the adobo Design Awards 2018, Grand Awards Night will be held on April 25, 2018.
This year’s competition will be judged by an esteemed panel of jury including: Jureeporn Thaidumrong of D&AD, Pann Lim of Kinetic Singapore, Eric Cruz of AKQA Shanghai, Dan Matutina of Plus 63 Design Philippines, Rhea Matute of Design Center of the Philippines, Joe Dy of McCann WorldGroup Philippines, Mervin Malonzo author of Tabi Po, Arnold Serrano of One Zero Design Co., Bryan Siy of TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno, Gerry Torres of De La Salle College of St. Benilde, Tepai Pascual of Meganon Comics, and Jowee Alviar of Team Manila.
The adobo Design Awards Asia is organized by adobo magazine and co-presented by Jollibee.
