MANILA – There is no shortage on the number of creatively designed shirts around us. The t-shirt, that most basic piece of clothing, can now be seen in more colors than even those on a Pantone chart. As such, a unique or special shirt design really needs to be different in order to stand out in a crowd.
As part of the adobo Design Awards Asia (aDAA) 2016, retail giant Bench is presenting one of the awards that will be handed out for this year’s Open Category. The T-Shirt Design Award will be presented to the most creatively-executed t-shirt designs using locally-sourced materials which combine elements of fashion, graphic design, and craft into a locally-themed creation.
For professionals, freelancers, and students the Open Category at the 2016 aDAA wants entries with designs that are as bold as the world they are trying to change. Submitting a different design is not enough, however, as the previously mentioned elements must come together in a cohesive whole. The winning entry will have the opportunity to be seen on t-shirts in the hundreds of Bench stores throughout the country.
Now on its seventh year, the adobo Design Awards Asia aims to champion the best designs while recognizing the talents behind the work. Now with over 20 categories, design is an essential element for one’s entry to be recognized. This year’s aDAA also marks a partnership with D&AD, a creative organization that represents the creative, design, and advertising communities worldwide.
Entries must be new work (or existing work that has been submitted but has never been published, aired, sold, or recognized in any previous award show), and may be submitted in any format – illustration, typography, photography, 3D product, wearable, video, mobile applications, etc., as long as it responds to the brief. Entries may be submitted individually, or in a group of up to four members.
There are other special awards that will be handed out in the Open Category. These include an award for Mobile App Design for Social Good presented by Globe Telecoms, an award for Video presented by Brand New Media, and an award for Digital Short Film presented by the Power Mac Center.
For the creative mind, a shirt design can be a great outlet for one to express their ideas on a canvas. The adoboDesign Awards Asia 2016 now gives your design ideas and your talents the opportunity to shine under a spotlight. Who knows?
