Solar Entertainment teams up with ABS-CBN and TV5 for FIBA World Cup coverage

Official FIBA license holder, Solar Entertainment, has partnered with ABS-CBN and TV5 in order to give Filipinos the most comprehensive telecast of the Spain 2014 FIBA World Cup to be held in Spain from August 30 until September 15.

It will be a gathering of basketball’s elite as 24 nations from all across the globe are set to do battle for a chance to hoist the prestigious Naismith trophy; the piece of hardware which signifies just who the best in the world is.

Anticipation in the country is rampant, and for very good reason; the Philippines will be making its first appearance in the tournament in nearly four decades. As such, TV5 is set to air all Gilas Pilipinas games live. With the move, supporters all around the nation will have the chance to root for their beloved squad when they take on all comers as it happens. If last year’s performance in the Asian Championships is any indication, Team Pilipinas looks primed and ready to show the entire world what “PUSO!” means.

TV5’s exclusive live free-TV airing of Gilas Pilipinas games 

Before Gilas Pilipinas heads into the biggest tournament in the world, the team will be playing tune-up games in Europe against the best international teams of Angola, Australia, Ukraine, Egypt, and France – dubbed “Gilas Pilipinas vs The World.” The series of games will be exclusively seen on TV5.
 
And to help you learn more about Gilas Pilipinas and the 2014 FIBA World Cup, Sports5 will be giving updates and interviews via the FIBA World Cup Primer from August 25 to 29 at 7:30PM.
 
Finally, the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain officially opens on August 30 with TV5 as the only Free TV channel with live coverage of Gilas Pilipinas games, starting with Croatia at 6:30pm, followed by the Gilas Pilipinas game agains Greece on September 1 at 2:00am, and versus Argentina at 11:30pm, also on September 1. Puerto Rico is the team’s opponent on September 3 at 7:30pm, while the game against Senegal caps off the preliminary round on September 4 at 8:00pm.
  
ABS-CBN to air US games

As a bonus for hoop fans, ABS-CBN is set to air the United States games in the morning. NBA superstars Stephen Curry, Derrick Rose, and James Harden will be called upon by head coach Mike Krzyzewski as Team USA have their sights set on continuing its dominance in the global basketball scene.
In addition to airings of games every morning, the two aforementioned networks will also televise primetime replays of key games on their sister channels, namely Aksyon TV and ABS-CBN Sports + Action.

Solar Entertainment, through its sports channels, Basketball TV and Solar Sports is the place to go for live and continuing coverage of the games all throughout the tournament, including host nation Spain.
