Having pioneered theater arts in the country, Repertory Philippines Foundation Inc. has since preserved and protected this baby for over 40 years.
Simply called REP, the company features four plays each season from January to April. Children’s theater runs August to December, with the last two months concurrently staging the year-end grand production of a Broadway musical. Summer activities include a six-week intensive workshop for adults and children. The workshop culminates with a stage production at the Onstage Theater.
Outside of the theater and workshops, REP is home to two entertainment groups of professional and up-and-coming performance artists that offer an extensive repertoire for corporate and other formal events.
Its first show for 2008 was a well-received production of “Tuesdays with Morrie” that featured Jose Mari Avellana as Morrie and Bart Guingona as Mitch. REP’s season includes Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” (February 1 to 17), “Romance in D” (February 29 to March 16), “Altar Boyz” (April 4 to 27), Disney’s “Mulan, Jr.” (August 9 to December 18), and “A Christmas Carol” (November 14 to December 21).
Onstage Theater is at Greenbelt 1.
