MANILA — A new road has been paved, and you better buckle up because the road from Print to Television is going to be one heck of a thrill ride as The STAR’s widely-read motoring section “Wheels” comes alive as Wheels TV.

Bringing together the content-driven attribute of The Philippine STAR and the visual spectacle of television, PhilSTAR TV premieres its newest show, Wheels TV, today at 10 a.m. on ABS-CBN Sports + Action Channel (formerly Studio 23).

Packed with all things automotive, Wheels TV is hosted by TV personality and race driver/multi-sport athlete Matteo Guidicelli, along with The STAR’s very own Angel Rivero. It is set to make the car-savvy set drool as it tackles everything about the latest automobiles with expert advice from the most respected veteran STAR motoring journalists Manny de los Reyes, Kap Maceda Aguila, Atty. Karen Jimeno and Ulysses Ang acting as the show’s segment hosts.

“The STAR’s latest venture in television through Wheels TV is another testament of our paper’s trailblazing strategies to expand its content in a multimedia presentation. In pursuit of niche markets, the paper’s most interesting sections are expanded into TV shows that provide the ‘newspaper experience’ in a different format,” Lucien C. Dy Tioco, STAR’s group senior vice-president for sales and marketing announced at the industry and media launch of Wheels TV held recently at the posh Buddha-Bar in Makati.

He also added that, “With the STAR’s print, digital and social media platforms complementing its TV shows in Wheels TV and its first venture, the successful Modern Living TV, our paper presents a 360-degree content that our readers and followers can conveniently access.”

“Content produced on Wheels TV is covered by print, thus providing a new source of content into the paper and its digital assets. This gives Wheels TV the power to lure avid followers of motoring enthusiasts and fans over other motoring TV shows,” Dy Tioco enthused.

Even non-car enthusiasts will find the 30-minute program compelling with its line-up of segments in coming episodes that will run every Saturday from March to June 2015.

Each weekly themed episode will include various topics such as how to improve fuel efficiency with your everyday car, tips on how to keep unnecessary weight out of your car to improve performance and fuel economy, and other topics including which drivetrain (gasoline, diesel, or hybrid) is most fuel-efficient, learning how to actually use getting stuck in traffic to your advantage; which mode of transportation is best in traveling from the northernmost point of EDSA to the southernmost point (and vice-versa); and why it’s more important to become a thinking driver than an aggressive charger in a race.

Wheels TV will also come in handy by discussing the best-kept secrets from places where road trips are common.

From hatchbacks to subcompacts, from SUV’s to family vans, from supercars to luxury sedans, Wheels TV has all the elements car aficionados and casual TV viewers alike would surely look forward to every week.
