The studio believes that by 2015, they will have enough comics to publish a new page every weekday for the whole year. The website was designed by Mervin Malonzo.

Already available are Pakikisalamuha by Malonzo, The Comeback by Ben Gilboa and Butch Mapa, and the Mythspace series.

Studio Salimbal takes its name from a mythological ship that is believed to be able to transport people to heaven even before dying. According to Bukidnon belief, two magical large swords called kampilan guard the doorway to the Salimbal, ready to cut down the unworthy.

“The Salimbal is representative of the unique and wonderful nature of the myriad mythologies we call Filipino, and as a studio, we aspire for that uniqueness and wonder, and draw inspiration from our cultural heritage. The Salimbal as an otherwordly vessel is also representative of our desire to transport readers to new, fantastic realms, beyond their wildest imaginings,” the studio said.

Studio Salimbal also counts among its members Borg Sinaban (Unfurling of Wings, Pilandomiks), Butch Mapa (Come with Me, The Comeback), Cristina Chua (Mangaholix), John Amor (PLUCK, Closetworld), Jules Gregorio (Mythspace), Koi Carreon (Mythspace), Mico Dimagiba (Mythspace), Noel Pascual (Crime-fighting Call Center Agents, Manila Underground), Paolo Chikiamco (Kwentillion/High Society, Alternative Alamat, Mythspace), and Paul Quiroga (Mythspace).
