BORACAY — The winners of the Kidlat Awards 2015 weren’t the only ones that the delegates eagerly waited for during the recently concluded Innovative Creative Week in Boracay. Everyone was also excited to know who would be representing the Philippines in this year’s Young Lions in France and Young Spikes in Singapore.

24 teams of young creatives were given 24 hours to come up with a pitch that would bring Inquirer.net closer to the youth while not alienating the older, loyal readers.

For the first time in the history of Young Kidlat, the powerhouse jury voted unanimously on the winning entry. The members of the jury were Andy Fackrell (RCD, DDB Sydney), Joe Dy (ECD, McCann), Brandie Tan (ECD, Publicis JimenezBasic), Dave Ferrer (ECD, JWT Manila), Rey Tiempo (ECD, Dentsu Philippines), Raoul Panes (CCO, Leo Burnett Group Manila), Third Domingo (CEO and Chief Creative Engineer, IXM), Dale Lopez (ECD, BBDO Guerrero), and Eugene Demata (ECD, Di9it DM9 JaymeSyfu).

“I am very impressed by the level of creativity and quality of ideas presented by the Kidlat Young Creative competitors. The winning idea by Publicis was very radical and irreverent, It was fearless, very Inquirer.  I told the judges that they should choose a winner not only because the team responded to the brief, but who among them can represent the Philippines in the global arena,” said Connie Kalagayan, Assistant Vice President for Corporate Affairs of Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Amanda Cruz and Toby Fornier from Team Publicis Manila won first place and will be the Philippines’ official representatives to the Young Cannes Lions. While the second placers, Mark Marmol and Paula Nones from Team Ace Saatchi & Saatchi will be the country’s Young Spikes.

“I am very happy that their choice was also my favorite. The Philippine Daily Inquirer as the official country representative to Cannes Festival of Creativity will be supporting the team all the way. We are proud that the Philippines has been making its mark in international competitions,” added Kalagayan.
