MANILA – Leo Burnett Manila and McDonald’s Philippines was the toast of the Boomerangs 2015 awards night here at SMX Aura Convention center after winning the inaugural Digital Marketer of the Year and Digital Advertiser of the Year.
Leo Burnett took home a total of eight awards all from McDonald’s – 4 bronzes, 2 silvers, and 1 gold. Aside from the top prize, the agency also won a special award for Business Results Excellence.
Also new to this year’s Boomerangs is the Innovative Excellence award won by BBDO Guerrero for the Noli Me Tangere Audiobook.
Other special award winners are Ace Saatchi & Saatchi, which took home Creative Effectiveness for TV5’s Jasmine and J. Walter Thompson in Strategic Excellence for @AllergicAlice.
No agency won the Best in Show for the second year in a row. In addition, there were no winners in the program categories.
The Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP), the industry body that produces the shows, received a record 213 entries this year- a remarkable 195% increase year-on-year. Proof of the rigor of the contest, only 71 entries made it through the final round of judging, with just 22 entries earning a metal.
Leo Burnett was the lone gold winner for Campaign Effectiveness category, while J. Walter Thomson Manila, BBDO Guerrero and Ace Saatchi & Saatchi struck gold for the Campaign Category.
