For those still crafting their cases for entry, here are tips from the jury on where to start:

A digital marketer should start in the same place as any other marketer: in the business issues facing their brand. The greater the need the more potential there is for a fresh approach. And the more they are prepared to share those issues with their communications partners the greater the likelihood of innovative solutions.

Think deeper; use behavior; experiment; be confident; do something that matters. The Philippine audience is innovative, sophisticated, and hungry for change. What we do with that is up to us.

We should look into the local start-up community. As marketers, we tend to copy what the global marketplace is doing, instead of finding our own solutions. Let’s make use of our own cultural insights!

The consumer. No other place. Brand managers often get enamored by the latest tools to reach the consumer with various messages (wearables! Snapchat! Vine!) but at the end of the day, the innovations that have literally changed our lives–social media, search, mobile–were created by people who just knew of an unmet need and created the best product to fulfill that need. It’s not rocket science at all.

Deadline for submission has been extended to August 7, 2015.
