MANILA — In celebration of Earth Day today, let us take a look at one of the most-awarded eco-friendly creative campaigns made by TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno for ‘Hana’. Shokubutsu Hana is a personal care brand from the Japanese company, Lion that try to produce products that don’t contain chemicals that may be harmful to the environment.
This water billboard that spelled ‘CLEAN RIVER SOON’ also did just that. This first of its kind floating billboard was mounted on Pasig River, one of the most polluted rivers in the Philippines, and maybe even the world in February 2014. It’s made of Vetiver, a perennial, non-invasive grass often used to treat wastewater and stabilize landfills and garbage dumpsites. Based on research, a Vetiver system can clean up to 2,000 to 8,000 gallons of water per day.
This campaign has been recognized in numerous festivals like the adobo Design Awards, Kidlat, Spikes Asia, AdFEst and more.
This is not the first beautification and cleanliness project by TBWA\SMP, the agency was also behind the air-cleaning campaign for Boysen KNOxOUT ‘Project EDSA’ (Everybody deserves clean air) which was recognized by both local and international festivals including the prestigious Cannes Lions.
