MANILA – For those who have yet to find their name on a Coca-Cola bottle, there is hope yet – especially if that name is Vice. As part of the brand’s viral Share a Coke campaign, Coca-Cola is letting people decide the next 50 names to be printed on bottles by calling for nominations online.
People can submit their nominations and vote online from July 7 to August 15. As of posting time, Vice is in the lead with 2,833 votes. Also in the top ten are Angel (2070), Taylor (1926), Anne (1828), Daniel (1758), Michael (1449), Cj (1419), Camille (1396), Abby (1374) and Tin (1297).
Launched in Australia in 2011, the Share a Coke campaign has proven irresistible to fans, who can’t help but be delighted at the idea of finding familiar names instead of the Coca-Cola logo on bottles and cans.
Launched in the Philippines on July 12, the campaign continues to grab attention both online and offline. Share a Coke launched with over 200 available names, including popular Pinoy nicknames such as Boy, Dong, and Noy, as well as terms of endearment like Pare, Mare, ‘Tay, and Kuya. The campaign also allows fans to share with significant people in their lives, from officemates to crushes.
There is also the #ShareACoke Tour, which allows customers to personalize their own Coca-Cola from the Coke Vending Machine. The next tour dates are on August 9-10, 2014 at Alabang Town Center (Corte Fountain Area), UP Town Center (Amphitheater), and Marquee Mall Pampanga (158 Designer’s Blvd. & Swatch).
Fans are also encouraged to personalize virtual bottles and share them on social media. According to Jasmin Vinculado, marketing director of Coca-Cola Philippines, “Sharing a Coke is a simple yet fun and exciting way for us Filipinos to be able to show our appreciation to those who make us happy.”
