MANILA – Yahoo Inc. has allegedly axed its editorial team in the Philippines after operating for six years. This includes the exit of Yahoo Philippines Country Manager and Country Editor Kate de los Reyes.
Businessmirror cited that a thanksgiving party happened in March while Newsbytes.ph reported that the sad news was relayed to the editorial staff as early as February 25. Moving forward, Yahoo Philippines will have curated online content and will do away with stringers.
The newspaper also mentioned that Jeffrey Oon, the former Audience and Editorial Lead for Yahoo Singapore, will oversee the local operations. However, adobo confirmed via Linkedin that Oon is currently working as Editorial Lead for APAC Marketing at Facebook.
The alleged departure of Yahoo! Philippines’ editorial team came a month after Mike Constantino, country sales director of Yahoo Philippines, left to join Brand New Media.
Perceptions, the public relations agency handling Yahoo! in the Philippines, declined to confirm this development at Yahoo Philippines as of press time. It’s unclear if the exit of editorial will affect the PR firm’s scope of work for Yahoo Philippines.
