MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Creative Kaiju of Hakuhodo Inc., APAC, Yang Yeo will take the seat of Jury President of the 10th adobo Design Awards Asia to be held at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura in Taguig City this May 10, 2019. The multi-award winning creative follows last year’s Jury President, Jureeporn Thaidumrong, Chief Creative Officer of Grey Advertising Thailand.
Yeo is indisputably one of the most awarded Creatives in the advertising industry. Speaking to adobo, Yang stressed the importance of execution in this year’s entries.
“Sometimes the idea is not that great but the craft brings out the best of it. It’s not the most precious stone, it’s not diamond maybe it’s just garnet but you polish it so well that it’s brilliant.”
Yang Yeo was born in Singapore and started his advertising career in 1992 with Saatchi & Saatchi Singapore and gained global experience from BBH in London. He was the ECD of Wieden+Kennedy Shanghai from 2014 to 2016.

Apart from an impressive resume, he built Fallon in Singapore and Hong Kong, led TBWA\Shanghai to win China’s first Gold Lion at Cannes, and guided J. Walter Thompson Shanghai to China’s first ever Cannes Grand Prix.
Among his works is ‘Heaven and Hell’ for Samsonite, which was named the most awarded print of all time by The Gunn Report. Taking 10 Grand Prizes, 38 Gold awards and 3 Yellow Pencils, the print ad displaced Volkswagen’s ‘Wedding’ as the most awarded ad for more than a decade.

Speaking on the announcement, Angel V. Guerrero, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of adobo magazine said, “Having judged in prestigious international awards shows like ADFEST and Cannes, Yang Yeo as the Jury President of this year’s adobo Design Awards Asia is certainly an honour for adobo. With a keen eye for good design, he will lead the jury in selecting the most brilliant works that answer to this year’s theme: Think Design Think.”
Just last year, Yeo also served as the Jury President for Industry Craft at the 65th Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. The agencies he led won Agency of the Year, his clients were named Marketer of the Year, and he was crowned Creative of the Year in the 2011 Agency of the Year awards presented by Campaign Asia-Pacific magazine.
Besides his fame in advertising, Yang is also renowned for his spatial and architectural design projects, and in 2012 he was awarded Designer of the Year by Dr. Tony Tan, the President of the Republic of Singapore.
