As we spend an increasing amount of time in the virtual world, machines will become even more embedded in our lives. Technology sometimes already feels like it has own mind- its own consciousness- but over the next two decades, this will become more pronounced. Machines will become as intelligent as us and, as this gap continues to close, we’ll reach a point where we become indistinguishable from another.
PHD invites you to explore the future, a future of human and technology fuse together.
Let the merge begin.
Humans can perform tasks today that we would never have dreamed of being possible just 50 years ago. Armed with tiny devices that fit into our pockets, we can access a lifetime’s worth of information in an instant, speak to anyone in the world whenever we choose and wherever they are, and share our experiences with friends thousands of miles away. It is over the next 50 years of this journey, however, that we will see the rise of robots and AI. We will find ourselves as dependent on connectivity and technology as we are on oxygen. As this occurs, machines will become more embedded into our lives, and continue learning from us, eventually becoming as intelligent, if not more, than us.
PHD presents “Merge – The closing gap between technology and us” from PHD Worldwide on Vimeo.
Technology and humanity will literally fuse together – this we call the Merge.
On October 4, 2017, PHD Media will hold the Philippine’s launch of its next thought-leadership novel, Merge; the closing gap between technology and us which explores a future in which humanity and technology become inextricably linked whilst addressing the urgent implications for marketing and exciting opportunities for brands.
Merge will dive into the implications and challenges of humans and technology converging.
Asking ourselves what makes us human when technology becomes all encompassing PHD will look at nine fundamental forces that businesses can ready themselves with, allowing them to not only lead this next wave of development, but to also connect greater to one-another.
With a foreword by inventor, futurist and author Ray Kurzweil, better known as Google’s head of engineering, Merge features exclusive interviews with inspirational business leaders, world-renowned academics and pioneering researchers, including Facebook COO, Sheryl Sandberg, Microsoft’s principle tech evangelist, Dave Coplin and senior research scientist at Google and co-founder of Google Brain, Greg Corrado.
The book was launched at this year’s Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June with a keynote by aforementioned Ray Kurzweil, who was introduced by our own worldwide strategy and planning director, Mark Holden.
Come the merge, will your head be plugged into The Cloud, or buried in the sand?
