The class of BACR 4-1 initiates a seminar – workshop titled “Ctrl + Z: Is Z in Control? as part of their academic requirements and will serve as the final project for their subject course elective, Peace Communication (BACR Elective 5). This is a collective brainchild from their whole class and was further polished by the formed executive committee composed of the following: Project Head, Deputy Project Head, Logictics Department, Finance Department, Communication and Media Department, Research and Documentation Department, Sponsorship Department, and Production Department. These committees have specific roles assigned and  the ones who will take charge of their respective members.

With the theme “Communicating Peace, Catalyzing Security for the Generation Z”, the class aims to bring up peace discussions in the context of A). Their online security, social media use and data privacy which specifically pertains to the outside aspect of peace and B). Their inner struggles that refer to the psychological / inner context of peace. The group chose the participants/ audiences as Generation Z because they deem that the current generation nowadays, with a close inclination to everything that resembles social media/ online stuff are the ones greatly affected by the lack of peace, both internal and external. Discussing peace among the younger people becomes a tough challenge that is why it is vital to step up and make ways in which their struggles regarding peace will be given a chance to bring into engaging discussions. Also, Generation Z is  the sector mostly referred to as “distracted” because they are prone and vulnerable to such noises and disturbances either caused by external events or what goes inside their minds. They are becoming more unsecured both online and on internal aspect. With this, the class formulated this concept anchored to the contemporary challenges faced by the Generation Z when it comes to their inner and outer peace.

The event seeks to achieve the following: To bring peace discourses/dsicussions to the struggling and distracted Generation Z, to educate the Generation Z about data privacy and other pertinent matters related to web/social media, and to help the Generation Z overcome their struggles in life and help them achieve internal and external peace. The program will primarily highlight talks and workshop from two resource speakers who are going to share their professional insights, knowledge and practices in their fields and hopefully, will be beneficial into the own practice of  Generation Z, and will consist of various activities such as contests and gift freebies from sponsors. The event will be divided into two sessions, the morning and afternoon, and is expected to run from 8 am up to 5 pm. It will take place at the PUP College of Communication Audio-Visual Room on October 16, 2018. The class expects that it will be a day full of practical learnings and fun as the Generation Z answers the toughest question of their time, “Is Z in Control?”.
