CAPIZ, PHILIPPINES — AirAsia Philippines through its alwaysREDy: anytime, anywhere Corporate Social Responsibility umbrella program visited several towns in Capiz province to distribute sacks of rice and food packs to communities affected by typhoon Agaton.

Around 150 family beneficiaries from Brgy. Libon in the Municipality of Panay and Guba in Pontevedra took part during the short program which also featured the performance of AirAsia’s internal ambassadors, a-team.

Barangay leaders in both towns expressed their sincere gratitude to AirAsia for reaching out to the various communities which are still in the process of recovery after the massive flooding in their areas.

Meanwhile, another 200 pails containing hygiene kits, clothes, diapers from the Rotary Club of Makati were flown via Kalibo which were also distributed to other affected towns in the province.

In time for its upcoming route launch in Roxas, AirAsia Philippines engages local media in a catch-up to share stories of recovery and plans to further stir economic and tourism activity in its 16th domestic destination.

The world’s best low-cost airline is set to officially add Roxas City to its growing domestic route network with the inaugural flight slated for June 16—flying three times a week – Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday – from Manila via NAIA Terminal 4 to Roxas City.

Present during the media catch-up are members of the Capiz local media, mostly members of the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP).

Previously, AirAsia top executives headed by CEO Ricky Isla paid a courtesy call among local government officials to affirm its commitment of democratizing air travel in Capiz Province.

AirAsia Philippines Head of Communications and Public Affairs Steve Dailisan said, “Roxas City is integral to our plans of growth in propelling key industries outside of air travel, such as cargo and trade in Western Visayas. We thank our media partners for their warm welcome ahead of our inaugural flight. We have been busy in the recent months working with local stakeholders of the city and province to also explore how we can sustain the momentum to our path to recovery and the recuperation of domestic tourism as a whole.”

Building up excitement to the inauguration of Roxas City is AirAsia Philippines’ 68-Peso one-way base fare to its newest destination from Manila! The back-to-back promo also features an 88-peso base fare promo for the recently launched route, Dumaguete City.

Roxas City, tagged as the “Seafood Capital of the Philippines”, is home to rich seafood produce exported to Taiwan, Japan and the United States. While Roxas City has an agri-based economy, its commercialization and industrialization have recently been driven by its fast-growing Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry. The city also boasts immersive cultural and outdoor experience present in its heritage and eco-sites, attracting tourists from all over the world. Roxas City is also the gateway to neighboring provinces of Aklan and Northern Iloilo.
