SINGAPORE – EYEYAH!, a Singapore-born social enterprise, has launched a free art- based toolkit to raise awareness about mindful eating among children. Supported by TOTE Board and Nickelodeon Asia, the toolkit uses professionally designed artwork to help teachers, caretakers and parents spark active discussion and child-led learning about healthy eating and responsible food consumption. The artwork is also brought to life through a Public Service Announcement (PSA) animation series that is currently airing on Nickelodeon’s digital and on-air platforms in Singapore and other parts of Asia, taking the message beyond classrooms and traditional learning spaces.

HEALTHY EATING AND RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION
Eleven artists from around the world have been commissioned to contribute eye-catching and thought-provoking artwork. The artwork visualizes facts, statistics and insights taken from sources ranging from newspaper articles to academic papers. Topics covered include food and culture, food science, food waste, chemical additives, hidden sugars and even food advertising. The toolkit highlights the creator and story behind each artwork, with talking points and suggested class activities.
The toolkit has been created with pedagogical input from teachers in Singapore and is designed to be integrated in International Baccalaureate and Ministry of Education curriculums. Students will not only gain a better appreciation of the issue but can also hone their problem solving, critical thinking and creativity skills.
Tanya Wilson, EYEYAH! Founder said; “As parents will know, it can be a challenge to get kids to listen when they are told to eat vegetables and avoid sugary snacks. By using art and design as a medium, we are able to catch their attention immediately and draw children into a discussion, get them to think about their own habits and eventually drive change through self- management.”
The 10-part PSAs are a part of Nickelodeon’s ongoing pro-social Together for Good initiative, which aims to empower kids to make positive changes in the world around them. This is the second collaboration between Nickelodeon Asia and EYEYAH! under this initiative, which saw EYEYAH’s ‘Safer Internet’ series air in 2019.
“Engaging audiences through our pro-social initiative is important to us and we are delighted to continue supporting EYEYAH!. Their humorous approach towards content that’s supported by strong educational messages, lends itself perfectly to Nickelodeon Asia. Through this series, we want our young fans to reflect about what they put inside their bodies and how this not only impacts their own well-being but the planet around them,” said Syahrizan Mansor, Vice President, Nickelodeon Asia, ViacomCBS Networks Asia.
