MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Globe’s enterprise arm inspires leaders across all industries to embrace radical compassion in building their businesses. This means going beyond profit and looking at environmental, social, and governance (ESG) integration to save the planet and help improve people’s lives.
The pandemic has given enterprises a chance to align their business objectives with larger social goals that produce long-term value for both. This year’s Leadership Innovation Forum (Lead-In) of Globe Business focused on the theme “Bigger Picture, Greater Future: Redefining Success Beyond Business” to share valuable insights that can help corporations re-evaluate their purpose and direction.
During his welcome remarks, Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu pointed out that the post-pandemic world comes with a significant paradigm shift dubbed The Great Reset. The impact of COVID-19 put things into perspective, and initiatives are now being taken towards economic, social, and environmental sustainability.“We are challenging every philosophy of business as we realize that profit isn’t the end goal. Beyond the capacity of our businesses, we redefine success as the strides we can make for humankind. It is the bigger picture for the greater future,” Cu said.
Cu shared that environmental sustainability, social equality, inclusivity and diversity, corporate integrity, and responsible governance are the newly-added metrics for success. And the opportunities offered by digital—whether from tech-driven innovations, company culture, human resources, to the data collected for consumer inciting — are integral in achieving the new metrics.
He stressed that building greater business should be defined in a holistic sense. Progress should be about achieving the highest human good so that technological innovations would enrich the communities, the country, and the world—not just in the present but even into the distant future.
“To aim for something as high as that — we must prepare to be radical in how we influence the environment, society, and global culture. Influence the lifestyles of our people, from employees to customers, and influence the direction we humans are heading toward. Compassion transcends with courageous individuals,” explained Cu.
Cu’s statement was echoed by Peter Maquera, Senior Vice President for Globe Business, Enterprise Group. “I cannot overemphasize the gravity of this fact. Some say we are born too late to explore the moon, yet too early to roam the stars. I believe we are living in an equally important age of opportunity in this Great Reset. Let’s all move forward with radical compassion to build the great companies of the future and own great tomorrows.”
