MANILA, PHILIPPINES — As COVID-19 continues to impact communities around the world including the Philippines, today’s Google doodle urges people to get vaccinated and wear face masks to help stop the spread of the virus and save lives.
The “Get Vaccinated. Wear a Mask. Save Lives.” animated doodle shows the Google logo all masked up and rejoicing after getting vaccinated by a healthcare professional (the letter “e”). In the end, the group gives a final cheer and a heart icon appears.
The doodle also hopes to pay tribute to all medical professionals administering vaccines to underscore the important role of nurses, doctors, and other frontliners across fields in the ongoing fight against the pandemic.
Upon tapping or clicking the doodle, people will be redirected to organized information panels to instantly find vaccination updates, trusted news, links to global and local health authorities, health information, and more. The Search Homepage is one of Google’s frequently visited touchpoints and this can help connect more people to authoritative vaccine information.
Google has also collaborated with independent media organization FYT to hold “#FYTCOVID19: Fighting vaccine misinformation” to tackle COVID-19 vaccine misinformation and empower journalists on fact-checking tips and tools. The webinar will stream live on FYT’s YouTube channel from Jan. 28-29, 2022 at 10:00AM – 12:00NN and will be freely accessible by the public. Student and community journalists attending the webinar must register here.
