MANILA, PHILIPPINES — PLDT Smart Foundation (PSF) turned over 5,000 doses of Moderna vaccines to the San Pedro, Laguna local government unit (LGU), boosting its vaccination efforts for residents.
In line with the PLDT Group’s core value of malasakit (compassion), PSF’s vaccine donations for various LGUs in the Philippines aim to help strengthen people’s protection against the COVID-19 virus and its variants.
In a Facebook post, San Pedro City Mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz wrote, “We have so much to be thankful for from PLDT-Smart Foundation. This donation will go a long way at napakalaking tulong sa amin ang inyo pong ibinigay na COVID-19 vaccines (and the COVID-19 vaccines that you donated will be a big help to us).”
This year the MVP Group has further donated 184,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to LGUs, helping cities and regions in their vaccination drives. The entire program targets to provide a total of 240,000 vaccine doses, making them more accessible to a greater number of people.
“We are happy to partner with the San Pedro, Laguna LGU in its vaccination program by allocating some 5,000 doses for their residents,” said PSF President Ma. Esther Santos, noting that “PSF Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan has been pushing to increase immunization rates in the country by donating vaccines to LGUs and government agencies.”
In 2021, the PLDT Group and Metro Pacific Group provided over 50,000 COVID-19 vaccines to different LGUs in Metro Manila and Mindanao to augment the ongoing vaccination efforts of the government.
The MVP Group’s vaccine donations are aligned with its commitment to help the country attain the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), particularly SDG #3: Good Health and Well-Being.
