Japan’s Dentsu Inc. bags a Grand Prix and Asia agencies win big on Cannes Lions day 2

CANNES, FRANCE — Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has wrapped up the second day of the festival, and with that, comes another set of 2023 Lions winners. On day two of the festival, the winners for categories under the Entertainment and Craft sections, accounting for eight categories in total, were announced.

The winners for these categories are agencies from 11 Asia countries — Japan, India, UAE, Thailand, the Philippines, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Lebanon, Israel, and Singapore. 

Across the winning works from Asia, agencies from the region won a total of 35 Lions collectively. While the region made a stellar showing at the festival on day two, Japan rose to the top among the Asian agencies with a total of 13 wins across the eight categories.

One of these wins includes Dentsu Inc.’s success in bagging a Brand & Communications Design Grand Prix under Industry Craft Lions. The Tokyo-based agency snagged the prize all thanks to its “My Japan Railway” campaign for JR Group. 

On top of the Grand Prix, Dentsu Inc. also earned two Gold and Bronze for the same campaign and a Bronze for its Kaguya by Gucci film for Gucci.

The Entertainment winners include those who excelled in the Entertainment LionsEntertainment Lions for GamingEntertainment Lions for Music, and Entertainment Lions for Sport. Meanwhile, the Craft section includes the winners of the Design Lions, Digital Craft LionsFilm Craft Lions, and Industry Craft Lions.
