MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Owned and organized by nutraingredients-asia.com, and supported by a stellar panel of independent judges, the NutraIngredients-Asia Awards recently revealed its roster of winners and finalists.

With the spotlight on innovation and cutting-edge research, Swiftlet Co. was announced as a finalist under the award’s “Start-up” category.

The brand was recently launched in October 2020  by young scientists and marketers from the Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam.  With their focus on an all-natural, zero-calorie sugar replacement, the cross-cultural group came up with the idea at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Coming from not only a start-up but that of a multi-cultural one, it was an enlightening experience for us all as diversity in the team got to help us learn and understand from one another even more,” said Dominic Plana, CEO of Swiftlet PH.

The aim is really for consumers to be able to have as much of it as they want without worrying about weight gain or a laxative effect, and on the other hand able to enjoy their favorite foods with the same taste, as the products taste just like sugar,” Plana added.

Swiftlet Co.’s flagship product, Swiftlet Natural Sugar Replacement, currently offers the only blend that has zero calories, zero sugar, and a non-glycemic index response, which does not raise blood sugar levels; it is also endorsed for having good digestive health effects as it contains prebiotics. The ingredients to their sweetener are also derived from non-GMO, all-natural, plant-based, and agricultural produce. These ingredients are approved by various international regulatory authorities such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

Speaking on their recognition as a company blazing the trail in the nutrition and health market, Minh Le, Swiftlet Co. Vietnam, said, “I hope we get to set an example of what young people can do and achieve if we set our heart and soul to it.”

Plana additionally shared, “It really starts from asking yourselves what you’re good at,  what you can do to improve the lives of others, and. your whys. Everything else will follow.”

Swiftlet’s patent for their formulation has already been approved.

Those from the Philippines may place their orders through Swiftlet’s official Instagram account. The brand is also on Shopee and Lazada
