MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Aside from providing exciting career opportunities for Filipinos and career seekers globally, Teleperformance (TP) Philippines also takes pride in championing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) into their core values and company culture.
Recently, the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Philippines (CCIFP) launched its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee at the Teleperformance Vertis North site in Quezon City. The event had honorable representatives from model organizations Make a Difference (MAD) Courses, Humanity and Inclusion Philippines, and Teleperformance Philippines who shared their journey in promoting and cultivating diversity, equity, and inclusion in their respective organizations.
“For years, diversity and inclusion have made the canvas of the world more vibrant and colorful. The values of diversity involve respect for and acceptance of different cultures. By incorporating different cultures, we can ignite brighter sparks that inspire innovations and excellence in our lives, workplaces, communities, and the world,” shared Marilyn Ventenilla, senior director for communications and marketing at Teleperformance Philippines and DE&I chairperson of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Philippines.
Fostering DE&I in the workplace
During the CCIF event, Ventenilla shared their current stance as one of the leading employers globally. Teleperformance operates in 88 countries with around 440,000 employees, speaking 265 languages and dialects coming from diverse backgrounds and cultures. “That really paints a picture of diversity and the extent of differences that we welcome and respect in our organization,” Ventenilla explained.
The Teleperformance team integrates DE&I in their company DNA by supporting advocacies through various initiatives such as TP Pride, a month-long celebration of Pride displaying the company’s support in recognizing the LGBTQIA+ community, and TP Women, a movement that champions women empowerment and equality in the workplace and beyond. Teleperformance also formed a partnership with Project Inclusion Network (PIN) to promote the potential of persons with disability (PWDs) as productive and capable members of society.
Last month, TP Philippines took part in Pride Month with activities that aimed to both celebrate and show support for the LGBTQIA+ community. They joined Quezon City LGU’s Alab for Love Pride March at the QC Memorial Circle where they were able to mobilize 200 employees to join the march.
Simultaneously, they created their own internal initiatives such as a SOGIE 101 Course through MyTPLearning, a Pride Leaders Forum inspired and empowered by the homegrown LGBTQIA+ leaders at TP Philippines, and a Queerversation executed virtually and on-site during the TP Pride meet up as well as the Senior Leaders’ Declaration of Support for LGBTQIA+ inclusion in the workplace. TP Philippines also donated to Home for the Golden Gays, an organization that provides support and care facilities for elderly LGBTQIA+ people in the country.
A win for all
Teleperformance Philippines provides career opportunities for thousands globally. They believe that upholding DE&I is essential for attracting top talents and retaining them.
“They become even more creative and strategic in their decision-making because they know that they can express their true selves in the organization. That feeling of acceptance empowers them,” Ventenilla shared. “Empowered employees are highly motivated. In turn, this positively impacts the business performance, employee retention and people engagement in company programs, and our relationships with the community. It’s win-win for both the company and its stakeholders.”
“We let ourselves be guided by the core values of Teleperformance — Integrity, Respect, Professionalism, Innovation, and Commitment,” Ventenilla added. “These core values bring the organization together and help them welcome everybody coming from diverse cultures and environments.”
