Independent filmmakers and production companies invited to pitch and co-create content that will premiere on Discovery’s platforms and Viddsee
Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific (DNAP) today announced the launch of ‘Jumpcut Asia’, a three-day boot camp to bring aspiring filmmakers through DNAP’s best practices in producing content for global broadcasters across both linear and digital platforms. It will also aim to stimulate discussion and inspire filmmakers to experiment with new storytelling styles and techniques as well as present them across multi-channel platforms that will travel across the Discovery regional network.
From today till 4 December 2016, Southeast Asian filmmakers and production companies are invited to submit their original ideas for films that will capture the essence of Southeast Asia through the Jumpcut Asia website. Held from 16 – 18 December 2016, the three-day creative workshop is open to all interested registrants. Industry experts including Oscar winning documentary film producer Nicholas Reed, will share his experience through masterclasses in pitch development, what makes a good story, how to present and how to get attention for your project. Shortlisted applicants will go on to pitch and the winners will produce a short film and will receive full funding and production guidance from DNAP, with their final films premiering to millions of viewers on DNAP and Viddsee’s digital platforms in 2017.
“Southeast Asia is a region bursting with life and vibrancy and with amazing stories waiting to be told. This is Southeast Asia’s time in the spotlight, and we are excited to bring original, local content to a regional stage through Jumpcut Asia. As the leader in storytelling, we are pleased to invest and share our expertise to help build and showcase compelling stories helmed by Singapore’s next generation of filmmakers,” said Charmaine Kwan, Head of Products, Southeast Asia, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific.
