QUEZON CITY — Are you ready for a zombie attack? The characters of Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia are caught off guard when the undead comes running after them in the film “Block Z.”

It was an ordinary day for pre-med student PJ (Julia) and her friends who attended to a patient that exhibits symptoms of rabies. The patient eventually dies but mysteriously comes back to life and started attacking people and turns them into a zombie.

As the attacks continue, PJ and her friends come across Lucas (Joshua) who is also trying to escape his teammates and the other students who turned into a zombie. They now work together to escape and come out of the university alive.

The film “Block Z” is a breath of fresh air for the tandem of Julia and Joshua, collectively known as JoshLia. Different from their usual boy-meets-girl and romantic-comedy films, this film directed by Mikhail Red—who directed the films Birdshot (2016), Eerie (2018) and Dead Kids (2019)—showed their tougher and edgier side as they do stunts on several scenes.

Produced by ABS-CBN Films Star Cinema and Keep Filming, “Block Z” also stars Ian Veneracion, Dimples Romana, Ina Raymundo, Yves Flores, Myrtle Sarosa, Maris Racal, and McCoy de Leon.

Catch the thrilling zombie film “Block Z” as it screens on the following dates in these regions: March 13 in U.S. and Canada; March 19 in Brunei and Papua New Guinea; and March 20 in Saipan.
