MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Pride Month has always ignited a vibrant celebration of diversity, equality, and love. It is that time of the year when the streets come alive with colorful and dazzling outfits, as people unite to participate in the Pride Parade. However, Pride is about more than just extravagant fashion; it is a moment to honor the LGBTQIA+ community, come together, and advocate for equal rights.

This year, in honor of Pride Month, creative agency GIGIL has teamed up with local designer RIOtaso to launch a groundbreaking initiative called ALTER. The aim is to empower members of the LGBTQIA+ community to express themselves freely and comfortably. ALTER provided a unique opportunity to transform one’s clothing, be it old or new, into an expression of one’s authentic self. With ALTER, one’s garments can be altered to suit their individual style, allowing everyone to fully embrace their true colors.

This inclusive project extended a warm welcome to everyone, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation during the Metro Manila Pride Parade, taking place last June 24th at Makati Circuit Grounds.

RIOtaso is a fiercely Filipina sustainable brand that repurposes fabric scraps into new textiles and creates one of one designs. Their collaboration with GIGIL aims to promote inclusivity and provide a platform for the LGBTQIA+ community to express themselves freely.
