MANILA, PHILIPPINES — After the success of two heartwarming love stories released last Valentine’s Day, Jollibee and McCann Worldgroup Philippines are back with another installment in the #MyKwentongJollibee series, this time celebrating Mother’s Day.
The latest film draws inspiration from a touching social media post by Mariel Enguito, who recounted an unforgettable experience during her sixth birthday, orchestrated by her mother, Mommy Aines Enguito. This story left a lasting impact on her and resonated throughout their community.
This Mother’s Day special, titled Nanay ng Bayan, showcases a mother’s love that extends beyond her immediate family to encompass the broader community, illustrating that motherhood is bound not by blood but by the heart. The film reaches its emotional peak in a moving climax filled with joy and gratitude, celebrating all forms of motherhood.
“Finding the perfect balance between unique and relatable has always been the aim of the campaign,” stated NJ Mijares, Group Creative Director at McCann. “For this year’s My Kwentong Jollibee, we found the story of a mother who went above and beyond not just to make her daughter happy on her birthday, but also to spread joy to everyone around them. This narrative mirrors the selfless acts of countless Filipino moms.”
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Paolo Villaluna, who has led My Kwentong Jollibee films since 2023, the film pays homage to the culturally maternal foundations of the Philippines. “The first hug, the first support, the first celebration of our successes are often maternal, reflecting the nurturing nature of not only our personal mothers but also our inang bayan,” Paolo reflected.
Dorothy Dee-Ching, VP-Marketing of Jollibee, added, “We are inspired by stories like Mommy Aines’, which show that a mother’s love is unwavering and selfless, extending beyond one’s own family. We hope this year’s #MyKwentongJollibee Mother’s Day film touches hearts and encourages everyone to appreciate their moms and mother figures not just on Mother’s Day, but every day.”
Celebrate Mother’s Day by watching the new #MyKwentongJollibee short film, sharing your love and appreciation for the maternal figures in your life, and inviting others to share their stories using #MyKwentongJollibee.
