Joyce Ling joins J. Walter Thompson as China Chief Strategy Officer

SHANGHAI – J. Walter Thompson today announced the appointment of Joyce Ling as Greater China Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) – she will oversee the agency’s strategic and brand planning across China.

Joyce Ling is one of the region’s top strategic minds with rich and deep experience on both agency and client side, leading brand strategy and innovation development for multinational and local brands.  

In her new role at JWT China, she will help transform the planning capability and will further develop innovatively integrated branding and communication solutions for the agency’s extensive roster of global and local brands.

Effective immediately, Joyce Ling reports to Carter Chow, Chief Executive Officer of J. Walter Thompson China.

Commenting on the appointment, Carter Chow said, “JWT’s mission is to deliver innovative creative solutions that change culture and drive business. Joyce was most recently Chief Strategy Officer at McCann WorldGroup China, prior that she was Vice President of Strategy at SapientRazorfish, where she led strategy for more than 50 clients globally including Heineken, Nike, Burberry, Trelleborg, UPS, Nestle, Unilever, NARS cosmetics and Viessmann.

Her past career also includes Head of Marketing & Communication at Tory Burch and Michael Kors, where she worked deeply on consumer insights, brand strategy, digital marketing and new media.

Joyce, who was born in Taipei, has a B.A in Fine Arts and Eastern Philosophy from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

On her decision to join J. Walter Thompson China, Joyce added, “JWT in China has made significant advances in modernizing and digitizing its client offering, I believe there is much we can still do.  And I am excited to take part in this greater organizational transformation.”
