FOX Networks Group Asia (“FNG Asia”) flagship Chinese movies channel, SCM (衛視電影台) announced today that they will invest and co-produce a slate of four feature films developed by mm2 Entertainment Pte. Ltd. (“mm2 Entertainment”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Exchange-listed mm2 Asia Ltd. (“mm2 Asia”).
FNG’s investment springs from its longstanding commitment to make bold investments in premium original productions, as well as quality acquired content, to ignite imaginations in Asia.
Cora Yim, Senior Vice President and Head of Chinese Entertainment at FOX Networks Group Asia, said, “Investing in Asia’s next generation of creative talent is a top priority for FOX Networks Group Asia. By developing amazing scriptwriters in the region, we can bring even more awe-inspiring stories to life. We are thrilled to support mm2 Entertainment in taking promising content from conception, to script, to viewers across the region.”
These four films came from a Scriptwriting Masterclass (a four-day workshop conducted in March 2016), and Scriptwriter’s Lab (a six-month programme held from July to December 2016 mentored by renowned Hong Kong scriptwriters Sunny Chan and Jack Ng), in a partnership between mm2 Entertainment and the Info-communications Media Development Authority (iMDA).
“We’re very pleased with FNG’s investment in the development of this slate of movies,” said Ng Say Yong, Chief Content Officer of mm2 Entertainment. “Their regional presence and expertise have helped shape the creative and commercial texture of these films, to ensure their reach to audiences beyond Singapore.”
Two of these movies, Shadows and Scared To Death, will be shot in Hong Kong, while the other two, Number One and The Fatekeepers, in Singapore and Malaysia. This collaboration will further leverage on the two companies’ respective strengths on the creative development and distribution of the four films.
