MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Seeking mental health support has always been taboo in Philippine society. In fact, based on data from the WHO Special Initiative for Mental Health, at least 3.6 million Filipinos suffer from one kind of mental, neurological, and substance abuse disorder in the early part of 2020 with the number believed to be an underreported figure. Furthermore, a recent study from the analytics firm Gallup, entitled “State of the Global Workplace: 2022 Report,” showed worker stress in the Philippines was the highest in Southeast Asia in 2021.

That is why the first step towards healing is raising the importance of seeking mental health help. For this Mental Health Month, MindNation is normalizing therapy in all its forms, removing the stigma and bringing the conversation forward.

In celebration of World Mental Health Day last October 10, MindNation, in partnership with Propel Manila, joined the World Health Organization in the mission to prioritize mental health and well-being with #EverythingIsTherapy.

The core messaging of the campaign normalizes the conversation, painting therapy as a regular occurrence and ultimately, making it accessible and part of daily routines. From biking to gaming to dancing to journaling, if all these actions are normal, shouldn’t seeking help from a mental health professional be normal too?

“This is actually our 3rd time to collaborate with MindNation and with each campaign we look for more meaningful ways to break stigmas on mental health. For us, we want to make sure we can mainstream the cause in new ways,” said MindNation’s Creative Agency Partner, Propel Manila Chief Creative Raymund Sison. “Therapy is actually a normal everyday thing for all of us and with this campaign, we hope to open people’s minds and look at mental health therapy as just another normal thing we do to be well.”

The campaign exploded all over social with a sticker pack that shows therapy in all forms. While also sharing that when in need, MindNation is there to help.

Alongside the social campaign, MindNation launched its Community Therapy Fund initiative. For every psychologist session booked, a WellBeing Coach© session will be added to the MindNation Community Therapy Fund that can be availed by those who are unable to access therapy. This initiative is extended until November 11, 2022 and is available through bookings made via the MindNation app or via Messenger.

“MindNation is driven by the need to raise awareness on the importance of therapy and seeking professional help. From our “#EverythingIsTherapy campaign that normalizes the act, the Community Therapy Fund initiative that makes mental health a communal effort to help one another, even to our very own MindNation App and 24/7 chat. We believe the change starts by making mental health help normalized and accessible,” added MindNation Chairman, Monique Ong.
