Dentsu Aegis Network held its annual volunteer initiative, One Day for Change (ODFC), for the fifth consecutive year, on Friday 11 May. A continuation of last year’s theme, “Champions for Children”, staff from across 13 different markets in Asia Pacific dedicated this day towards building a better environment and bridging the digital divide for young and underprivileged children.

For this year’s ODFC, Dentsu Aegis Network Philippines partnered with the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Manila and Waves 4 Water in a collective aim to learn, produce and donate portable water filters to provide clean drinking water for the families in a chosen community at Barangay Cayumbay, Tanay Rizal.

Dentsu Aegis Philippines donated three water filter tanks for the Barangay Hall, Cayumbay Elementary School and National High School, as well as household water filters to chosen 40 families — with either a person with disability (PWD) or a senior citizen as members of the family.

Barangay Cayumbay was selected as the recipient of Dentsu Aegis Philippines’ donation due to lack of ‘clean’ drinking water supply in the community, and with only one deep well being shared by all the families for the whole barangay.

Dentsu Aegis Philippines took this opportunity to bring joy to the identified families in Barangay Cayumbay implementing three activities engaging the company employees together with the identified families in the community.

FIRST ACTIVITY:  REFRESH:  Clean Water for a Clean Tomorrow #WeAreAmbitious. Each Dentsu Aegis PH House assigned house members to attend a training session on how to assemble, maintain and clean the water filter tanks.  Right after the session, the assigned DAN House members assembled the water tanks and household water filters for the families at Barangay Cayumbay.

SECOND ACTIVITY: Infographics creation by Dentsu Aegis PH House #WeAreResponsible. Each group shall was tasked to develop creative and effective infographic materials to guide the whole community on how to properly use or maintain the whole water filters.  The theme for the designs was #weareresponsible. The infographic designs were judged based on the following criteria: Creativity – 50% (Style, Aesthetics, Resourcefulness); Content – 50%(Message, Relevance to the theme). The house(s) who told a complete “We are Responsible story” in proper use and maintenance of water filters using the infographic designs of all the members got additional points. – 20%.  The team with the most points won the second Denstu Aegis House activity.

THIRD ACTIVITY: Dentsu Aegis PH House CSR Story #WeAreCollabotive. Each Dentsu Aegis PH House was asked to create a video that best showcased their Dentsu Aegis House CSR experience and how the Dentsu Aegis Values help enhance their ODFC experience, projecting Denstu Aegis Philippines not just an organization that produces great work, but also a network that gives its people the opportunity to live, have fun, inspire others and be themselves.

Submission of videos is on May 18, during the Denstu Aegis Philippines Wellness Fair. Panel of external judges will pick the best entry based on the following criteria: 25% – Portrayal of DAN House CSR experience #WeAreCollaborative; 25% – Depiction of the DAN Values; 30% – Creativity; 10% – Flow of presentation; 10% – Video Quality (Editing, Lighting, Musical Score, etc.) Dentsu Aegis Network’s One Day for Change Returns.

Last year, 6,646 staff across the region participated in ODFC giving over 33,000 hours of their time to local communities under the theme ‘Champions for Children’.

Donald Lim, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Philippines said: “We always look forward to OFDC where our people are given the distinct opportunity to deliver services to underprivileged children and families by building more conducive environments to live, play and learn in. OFDC is always good for our professional and personal souls.”
