HELSINKI, FINLAND — Where there’s heat there’s a way. As heat waves crash in Europe, people are doing whatever it takes to cool down. From ice bag pillows to refrigerated workstations – anything goes.
Finnish energy company Fortum, a forerunner in district heating and cooling services, is letting people know there’s an easier and more permanent fix to their troubles.
In its summer campaign coined “Cool Idea,” people are shown demonstrating their elaborate DIY cooling hacks. The creative agency behind the campaign is TBWA\Helsinki.
“Summers as hot as these are a new phenomenon in the Nordics, and people will do pretty much whatever it takes to escape the heat. Luckily, we can provide them with ecological, efficient, and affordable district cooling that will make the summers to come even more chill,” explained Mia Tervo, Marketing Manager at Fortum Heating & Cooling.
The benefit of district cooling, and heating for that matter, is that it can efficiently use waste heat sources such as the excess heat from data centers and sewage water plants to provide clean cooling and heating in the area.
