BBC Worldwide Channels spotlights growth in India with the appointment of Director for South Asia

 ASIA-PACIFIC – BBC Worldwide Channels today announced the appointment of veteran pay-TV and media industry expert, Deepak Shourie, as Director for BBC Worldwide Channels South Asia, reinforcing BBC Worldwide’s long-term commitment to India as a priority territory for its business.

 
Based in New Delhi, Deepak Shourie will take on responsibility for BBC Worldwide Channel operations across South Asia, and will spearhead the management of the channels in the region.
 
Deepak comes to BBC Worldwide Channels with extensive experience in the media industry in India. After being the Group General Manager at Living Media – publishers of India Today, he conceived and launched a competitive weekly news magazine Outlook. He was then the Executive President for The Hindustan Times and CEO at Zee TV. Prior to joining BBC Worldwide, Deepak was EVP and Managing Director for Discovery Communications India. During his seven years at the helm, he also launched Discovery Travel & Living in India, and made the company’s India business profitable.
 
Working with the senior management strategy team in Singapore and London, Deepak will report to Mark Whitehead, Senior Vice President and General Manager of BBC Worldwide Channels Asia.
