MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Since the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic, a lot of new societal and cultural norms have emerged. Some are well-known, while others are isolated only to communities where they exist. It will always be better to be knowledgeable about these new emerging cultures as they contribute to the betterment of our society at large.
Thus, the AISEC Philippines UP Manila will be holding a two-day conference titled “Sulong”, with the theme, “Baguhin ang Mundo.” This conference promotes cross-cultural understanding, cultural appreciation, and awareness. Additionally, it aims to: 1) harness critical understanding and furnish cultural relativity across the globe; 2) Address cultural ignorance brought about by the pandemic-bred culture, and 3) Solidify the call on how to strengthen culture amidst the pandemic.
For two days, the conference will follow the same flow of program starting with an opening part where the opening lobby, introduction, check-in, and welcoming remarks will take place. The conference proper will immediately follow afterward. Each day, there will be two speakers at the conference part of the program. Speakers will be coming from the Philippines and other different countries. Before ending, the conference will hold a workshop that aims to make use of all the learnings the participants have harnessed throughout the conference proper.
The event will take place on July 30 – 31, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM (GMT+8) via Zoom.
According to the event organizers, “Let us not be stuck in this chaotic situation. It is now the time to take a chance. It is now the time to make a big step in aligning the misaligned. It is now the time to conquer the world with positive intentions. Together, let us take a leap and make a positive change!”
