Canon Philippines at 20: ‘not just surviving but doing better’

TAGUIG CITY – As Canon celebrates its 20th anniversary here in the Philippines, Canon Marketing Philippines, Inc. (CMPI) President and CEO Lim Kok Hin announced that the brand is not just surviving but is in fact doing better despite the rise of smartphones not just in the country but in the world.

Lim admitted that the demand for low end, entry level cameras has dropped globally but for high end, professional cameras including DSLRs, it continues to soar. “People take so many pictures using their smartphones that they realize the need to take better photos,” said Lim.

Canon’s aim to help people take better photos doesn’t stop with the technology they offer. The market leader in cameras is also making photography lessons, both basic and advance, accessible to its customers via workshops and its photography club, Image Nation.

With Canon’s focus shifting to a deeper customer relationship this year, exciting things await Filipinos including special promos and a new line of products: PowerShot G9 X Mark II and PowerShot SX430 IS lifestyle cameras, and PIXMA Ink Efficient G4000 with WiFI and fax, and PIXMA Ink Efficient E410 and E470 low cost printers.

“We want to send a message to the Filipino people that the moment you buy a Canon product, that is the start of our relationship,” shared Lim.

CMPI’s new management appointments, Marketing Communications Manager Kristine Adeline Dacanay and Head of Consumer Group Benny Yu, are a testament to Canon’s goal to further strengthen its marketing and consumer efforts this year and beyond.
