THE PHILIPPINES, MARCH 12, 2012: Global information and measurement company, Nielsen, has announced the appointment of Stuart Jamieson as managing director of its Philippine business unit, effective immediately. Jamieson will be responsible for both media and consumer research, which were previously handled by Jay Bautista and Vicky Santos respectively.

Jamieson is a 10-year Nielsen veteran, with experience from his previous roles across the company’s media research business. During his six-year tenure as managing director of Nielsen’s media business in New Zealand, Jamieson led the launch of the company’s cross-platform audience measurement and planning solution. He also championed the successful launch of Nielsen’s television audience measurement services in Papua New Guinea and Fiji, and direct mail monitoring service in New Zealand.

Before joining Nielsen, Jamieson held various senior level sales and marketing roles within large retail, FMCG, and liquor companies.
Prior to the appointment, Jamieson has been to the Philippines only once, for a quick visit in 2005. However, he said that modern technologies allowed him to find out as much as he can about the country before accepting his new role. “The opportunity for me is to come into this market and guide the time. My role really is to really get the team integrating and talking to each other,” Jamieson said on his new responsibility.

“My immediate impression of the Philippines is that this is a market in which consumer behavior is rapidly evolving, primarily as a result of the up-take of new technology, expanding media platforms, and shifting media consumption habits. I look forward to working closely with these clients to tap into Nielsen’s unique insights to help them understand what consumers watch, listen to, read and interact with, and how this links to what they buy,” he added.
Bautista ended a 19-year career in Nielsen to focus on his family and personal businesses, according to Jamieson. Another resignation followed a month after, as Zenaida Santos, until recently the media officer of Nielsen Company Philippines, left her post effective February 29.
