O&M China announces management promotions

ASIA-PACIFIC – BEIJING, CHINA, SEPTEMBER 2011: Ogilvy & Mather China has announced the promotion of three existing agency leaders who will take on additional senior management roles and responsibilities in January 2012. These promotions follow a recent Ogilvy Asia Pacific announcement regarding management changes at the regional level.

Ogilvy veteran of more than 20 years, Debby Cheung, currently Group Managing Director of Ogilvy PR/China, will step into Chris Reitermann’s role as President of Ogilvy & Mather Group/Shanghai when Reitermann joins the Regional Executive Committee as President of Ogilvy & Mather Advertising Asia Pacific in January 2012.

Cheung’s Ogilvy career began at Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide in Hong Kong where she worked her way up to the position of Managing Director of that office. In 2003 she relocated to Shanghai to lead Ogilvy PR and through constant innovation, key hires and new business wins, she has developed Ogilvy PR into a leading agency in the market. A strong believer in talent development, Cheung has also worn the additional hat of Group Training Leader in Shanghai for several years.

“Choosing Debby to lead the Group in Shanghai was a very easy decision for us. Debby is an Ogilvyer in heart and soul and she knows the ins and outs of our Shanghai operation. Her unique ability to bring people together is a perfect fit for our 360 Degree organization and we’re so excited to promote her to this new role,” said Shenan Chuang, CEO of Ogilvy & Mather Greater China.

Angel Chen will replace Reitermann in his second role as President of OgilvyOne China. With OgilvyOne since 2000, Chen has done a supreme job as Managing Director of OgilvyOne Beijing, a position she was appointed to 2.5 years ago. Chen is a passionate digital and direct marketer with a strong business acumen and client service sense. Under Chen’s leadership, OgilvyOne Beijing has consistently been recognized as the most awarded digital agency in China – winning “Digital Agency of the Year” at Campaign’s 2010 Digital Media Awards.

Chuang said, “Angel is a tireless and passionate innovator and has been a fundamental part of the OgilvyOne success story in the past decade. With her at the helm, we’re confident that OgilvyOne China will continue to prosper as a global hub of creative excellence.”

Peony Wu has been named the new Managing Director of Global Brand Management (GBM) Clients, replacing Anthony Wong who has been promoted to the Asia Pacific role of Regional President, Ogilvy GBM and who also joins the Regional Executive Committee. In addition to her new role Wu will continue to serve as Chief Digital Officer, O&M China.

With a rare background in management consulting, client service, creative agency, digital agency and media agency experience, Wu’s holistic perspective has allowed her to blossom into a true new age brand marketer.

“With digital being a major growth driver and strategic focus for Ogilvy’s large GBM Clients, it is natural to extend Peony’s Chief Digital Officer role to encompass management of the GBM business in China,” said Chuang.

In addition to their expanded responsibilities Cheung, Chen and Wu will also become new members of Ogilvy China’s Executive Committee.
