GMA keeps Mega Manila ratings lead according to AGB Nielsen Philippines

GMA Network has maintained its lead over rival network ABS-CBN for the month of April 2010, according to the latest ratings released by AGB Nielsen Philippines.

GMA Network posted an average audience share of 34.6 percent, 0.9 percentage points higher than competition’s 33.7 percent (data from April 25-30 are based on overnight ratings).

GMA programs comprised 6 out of the overall top 10 programs, with fantaserye The Last Prince and the country’s first "kantaserye" Diva, placing strongly in the Top 10. Other GMA shows included are “Koreanovela” Queen Seon Deok, banner newscast 24 Oras, the action-packed Panday Kids and weekend primetime public affairs show Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.

In this latest report, figures show that Mega Manila households now comprise 55% of the National Urban Philippines TV population and are generated from a bigger panel of 800 TV households.  Urban North/Central Luzon, on the other hand, accounts for 21% of the National Urban Philippines TV population.

AGB Nielsen supplies TV ratings data to 21 companies in the Philippines. GMA Network and two other media companies (ABS-CBN not included), plus twelve (12) major advertising agencies and four (4) regional clients subscribe to AGB Nielsen.

GMA Network Chairman, President and CEO Felipe L. Gozon expects that the Network’s lead in TV ratings will increase with the launch of new programs in the coming months. “We are launching new programs that our viewers will surely enjoy watching. With these new shows, we are hopeful that the gap in TV ratings will once again widen,” Gozon said.
