adobo Cup 6 sparks industry excitement

MANILA, MAY 15, 2013 – The advertising, media and production industries are all abuzz with excitement as adobo Magazine, the word on creativity, is set to hold the adobo Cup 6 on Saturday, May 18 2013 at the Evia Football Field along Daang Reyna in Las Piñas.

The adobo Cup is adobo Magazine’s annual 5-a-side football tourney. Initially organized in 2007 for entrants from the advertising industry, the adobo Cup is now open as well to friends from TV networks, media and production, and welcomes collaborations with their clients.

Each iteration of the hotly anticipated Cup takes place over one exciting day, during which fun, camaraderie and sport are promoted among players from these highly competitive industries, who engage in fierce yet friendly competition to bring home the prize – in keeping with the event’s tagline, “How bad do you want it?”.

Sponsor

In last year’s adobo Cup 5, a total of 18 teams, representing media heavyweights and top TV networks as well as top advertising and production luminaries, vied for the coveted “DOBO” trophy, with ABS-CBN/Balls emerging as the champions. Needless to say, the event attracts much publicity, especially with TV networks covering their own teams’ battle of egos on the football field.

adobo Magazine has taken everything up a notch for the adobo Cup 6. This year, the acclaimed Chelsea FC Soccer School will be co-organizing the Cup, ensuring a smooth and more professionally-run event than ever.  A total of 23 teams have signed up, making this the largest ever adobo Cup to date.

Members of the internationally renowned Philippine Azkals team will also take part in the action by conducting an exclusive football clinic for kids aged 6-12. Additionally, an all-star tournament, to be participated in by members of the various teams, is also in the works for the fourth quarter of 2013.

A portion of the sponsorship from the adobo Cup 6 will benefit Futkal Philippines (whose moniker is derived from the Filipino phrase “Futbol sa Kalye”, or “Street Football”), a non-profit organization that aims to promote football in the Philippines at the often-neglected grassroots level.
