21st Ad Congress launched Friday night

It’s official: the 21st Philippine Advertising Congress was launched last Friday night, with the theme of PERSPECTIVES: Ano sa Tingin Mo?

The Nov. 28 launch was the highlight of the closing gala of this year’s 50th anniversary Philip-pine Association of National Advertisers (PANA) convention, hosted by Paolo Bediones and with remarks by PANA President Charmaine Canillas. PANA, the powerful trade group that includes most of the country’s major advertisers, is hosting next year’s Congress.

Overall Adcon Chair Margot Torres presided over the launch, which also included speeches by Presidential Management Staff chief Cerge Reymonde (a former broadcaster) and Baguio City Mayor Reinaldo Bautista, Jr.  A portion was devoted to the Congress’ theme and creative campaign, developed by DDB after the latter won an extensive pitch earlier this year.

In her remarks, Torres mentioned several attractions for next year: exclusive AdCon-only rates for TV spots booked during the Congress ("It will be a giant bazaar"); a grander reprise of last year’s successful ASAP-organized trade show; sessions starting at 10am and continuing in three separate tracks for Marketing, Creative & Media; and a reformatted ARAW Awards.

Information on all these – including early registration discounts – will eventually be up at the official Ad Congress website, www.adcon.com.ph.  The site was unveiled at the launch, and will be updated regularly with Ad Congress developments.
