TBWASMP and DM9JaymeSyfu bring home PH’s second ever D&AD Pencil wins

MANILA – Three PHL entries scored Wood Pencils at the recently concluded D&AD Awards.

TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno adds another win this year for its ‘Water Billboard’ campaign for Peerless Lion Corporation. Earlier this month, the same campaign also won a Grand Clio Image award and three Pencils at the One Show. The creative outdoor campaign was launched for Shokubutsu HANA, in an effort to help clean Manila’s extremely polluted Pasig River.

The agency also scooped a Wood Pencil for its mouthwatering poster design depicting the unlimited KFC gravy.

Another D&AD Pencil winner was DM9JaymeSyfu’s multi-awarded ‘Pocket Fire Extinguisher’ for the City of Las Piñas. This campaign aimed to provide families with a cheaper and alternative solution to small scale fires.

This is the second time that the Philippines has won a Pencil. The first Pencil was won by DM9JaymeSyfu last year for Smart ‘TXTBKS’.

A record-breaking total of 847 Pencils were given this year.

United Kingdom finished the biggest with a total of 227 pencils while the United States scored 150.

D&AD awarded five Black Pencils and four White Pencils. with the United Kingdom taking two of the Black Pencils for 4creative’s ‘Film4Idents’ and Made Thought’s ‘G. F Smith’. Other Black Pencil winners were Colenso BBDO, Leo Burnett Toronto, London, Chicago and Holler and Marcel Worldwide.

Meanwhile, the four White Pencils were awarded to Lowe China, Droga5, GGH Lowe/Grabarz & Partner and Don’t Panic London.
