AirAsia Philippines Spokesperson Steve Dailisan said, “Hong Kong and Singapore have always been key markets for AirAsia primarily because of the number of OFWs present in these economic hubs. This is why we are very much excited to kickstart the return of our international flights with these routes.”

“To us at AirAsia, this signals the much-anticipated post-pandemic recovery, and there’s no better time to celebrate it with the warm homecoming of Filipinos for Christmas. The AirAsia team has extensively prepared for this, and we are delighted to take part in these meaningful family reunions.”

The Department of Labor and Employment reported that as of June 2021, there are 165,000 OFWs in Hong Kong and 30,000 in Singapore.

The Philippines has categorized Hong Kong under the Green list which means fully vaccinated travelers will no longer be required to undergo quarantine but will be asked to submit a negative RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to departure.

Fully vaccinated travelers coming from Singapore which falls under the Yellow list, however, will be required to undergo a 5-day quarantine until the release of their RT-PCR test. They will then be allowed to finish their quarantine at home.

To celebrate the resumption of flights, AirAsia Philippines is also offering an early Christmas treat to OFWs with the ‘airasia Balikbayan Package’. By using the promo code BLKBYN10, travelers can enjoy 10% off on Manila to Singapore and vice-versa flights which will be booked from 8 to 21 November with travel dates from 4 December 2021 to 26 March 2022.

Likewise, travelers who book a flight from Hong Kong to Manila and vice-versa will also get a 10% discount for bookings made until 14 November for 5 December 2021 to 31 March 2022 flights.

Another 10% discount will be given for OFWs who will book their domestic flights from 15 to 28 November, for flights from 1 December 2021 to 26 March 2022.

And to top it all off, AirAsia is also giving OFWs special discounts on 40kg baggage (Php1,390 discounted price), RT-PCR test (Php2,400 discounted price) and a maximum discount of Php4,000 on hotels for quarantine stay. All these exclusive offerings are made available at airasia.com and Super App.

Dailisan added, “This is our warm welcome for our beloved OFWs. Whatever savings they get from the affordable deals AirAsia offers can be squeezed in for added gifts to the balikbayan boxes they’ll be flying home for their families this Christmas. Moreover, we hope to put warm smiles on their faces as we fly them home safely, and give them peace of mind with our world-class service.”
