PHILIPPINES, OCTOBER 2010 – ABS-CBN dominated the nationwide TV ratings last September, scoring an average audience share of 40% versus GMA 7 with 34%, according to data from Kantar Media.
TV5 ranked far third and remained stagnant it its place with a meager 8% audience share. Fourth placer Studio 23 is fast catching up with 5% share or only three points behind TV5. Its audience share has been on an uptrend since January month-on-month.
Nine out of the top ten most-watched programs nationwide for September were produced by ABS-CBN. These were "Agua Bendita" (32.6%), “Noah” (34.1%), “TV Patrol” (32.6%), “Wansapanataym” (29.1%), “Momay” (27.7%), “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (27.4%), “Idol” (26.9%), “Kokey@Ako” (25.9%), and “TV Patrol Weekend” (24.8%),
“Wansapanataym,” “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” and “TV Patrol Weekend” were among the weekend top-raters. No other weekend programs from GMA7 and TV5 made it to the overall top 20 chart.
Kantar Media offers audience research measurement systems in 32 countries. Its television audience panels are composed of 1,370 representative households covering urban Philippines and reporting on seven sectors namely the National Capital Region, North Luzon, Central Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
ABS-CBN shifted to Kantar Media/TNS after filing a case vs. AGB Nielsen Media Research for failing to comply with its request to investigate alleged cheating and data tampering in TV ratings. The case is still pending in court.
The network started October with its new primetime fantasy series topbilled by John Lloyd Cruz and Angel Locsin, “Imortal”, which premiered with a rating of 34.4% on its premiere episode beating its rival program with only 22.7%.
