Bangkok – Entries to the 2010 ADFEST ‘Fabulous Four’ are now open to all young directors and assistant directors in the Asia Pacific.
Every year, ADFEST invites four young directors from around the region to create four short films based on a particular theme. This year’s theme is ‘REFRESH’, which is also the theme of next year’s ADFEST, which takes places in Thailand on 18-20 March 2010.
To enter, young directors and assistant directors must submit an original 3-5-minute script for a short film (written in English), which will be judged by the region’s most influential and respected producers and creative directors. The directors who write the best scripts will be invited to produce their short films, which will premiere at ADFEST 2010.
“ADFEST is passionate about helping young directors in the Asia Pacific improve their skills and create bold and original films. We believe Fabulous Four is an incredible opportunity for ambitious directors to showcase their talents to creative directors and producers around the world,” says Jimmy Lam, President of ADFEST.
“The Fabulous Four scripts will be read by the region’s most experienced producers and directors, who will make up the Jury Panel for next year’s ADFEST New Director Lotus awards. It’s been a tough year for production companies, so Fabulous Four is a great opportunity for young directors to promote their talents. The theme, ‘Refresh’ can be interpreted in so many imaginative ways, we’re all looking forward to seeing it brought to life on screen,” says Lam.
ADFEST will automatically enter the Fabulous Four films into Young Directors Award in Europe – one of the most prestigious events for launching upcoming directors in the world. If successful, the films could go on to screen at The 11th Annual Young Director Awards in Cannes, France.
Production companies and directors in Asia, Australia and New Zealand are now invited to submit their ‘Refresh’ scripts to puk@adfest.com
Entries close on 31 December 2009.
The Fabulous Four directors will be notified on 22 January 2010, and will have one month (from 25 January to 23 February) to produce their films.
