ASIA-PACIFIC – BUSAN, SOUTH KOREA, AUGUST 21, 2011 – With its opening coming up in a few days, AD STARS 2011 is advancing toward the successful staging of the final round for the awards. The organizing committee of AD STARS, where the total number of entries explosively grew nearly 31% to 7,130 as of the entry closing date last month, is now fully prepared to welcome judges and the audience and busy putting the finishing touches on the final round.
Celebrating its 4th anniversary this year, the final round of AD STARS 2011, the largest award show of its kind in Asia, will be held from August 25 to 27 for three days on Busan Haeundae Grand Hotel and Haeundae beach.
A total of 1,267 works have advanced to the final round after fierce preliminary round competitions screened by a jury of 105 judges. These works will compete in the final round for the grand prize of USD 10,000 each in three categories.
For the rigorous evaluation of the final round contestants, 25 of world’s leading creative directors from 16 countries—including the legendary Neil French and other multi-awarded creative directors—will arrive in Busan to select the grand prize winners after reviewing the works.
Lee Eui-ja, co-chairperson of the executive committee, stressed, “AD STARS 2011, which marks its 4th anniversary this year, will offer various programs for the enjoyment of not only advertising practitioners, but also the general public. To help ordinary citizens see and feel the trends of ideas from around the world, the works that will compete in the final will be on display for public viewing on the second floor of the Busan Haeundae Grand Hotel. In addition, we have organized attractions and experience programs to entertain Busan citizens, travelers and visitors in conjunction with the festival.”
The organizing committee, for the first time ever, will install a public brand promotion center on Haeundae beach for the general public to view major countries’ city brand campaigns. Beach AD Night will screen the world’s finest ads, stage concerts, and conduct quiz and giveaway events. Of particular note, a special concert by Kim Do-hyang, a promotional ambassador for the festival, has attracted strong interest from those who love advertising and music.
Advertising practitioners, students and those who want to learn more about advertising will have their fill of inspiration from the seminar program themed ‘the Future of Advertising’ that will feature world-famous speakers. The final round of AD STARS 2011, up-scaled with diverse programs, will start on August 25 at 6PM with the festival’s opening ceremony, followed by seminars and various events on the 26th and 27th. The festival will finally end on August 27 with the awards presentation and closing ceremonies.
