PHILIPPINES, OCTOBER 13, 2010 – Business broadsheet BusinessMirror announced the development of its iPad application, which it hopes to introduce within the year. The paper celebrated its fifth year with a well-attended bash at the Oceana Events Place at San Miguel By the Bay last week which saw prominent figures in business and government toast the daily on its anniversary.

"We all know that the newspaper business is very brutal and competition is very vicious however we are happy with the way the paper has been accepted by the reading public in such a short time," said BusinessMirror Publisher Anton Cabangon. The paper was ranked number one business paper in the country covering A, B, C and D classes in a recent Synovate survey. BusinessMirror was named Newspaper of the Year by the Rotary Club of Manila in 2006 and became the first Philippine newspaper to receive a gold medal award from the United Nations in 2008.

"Early this year we launched the BusinessMirror E-paper, however with recent developments this project has been overtaken by the introduction of the iPad," explains Anton Cabangon. "We can’t fight technology or the digital age, we need to embrace it."
