Clothing retailer C&A appoints DDB China Group

ASIA-PACIFIC – SHANGHAI, CHINA, SEPTEMBER 21, 2010 – C&A, the international chain of retail clothing stores, has appointed DDB China Group as its creative agency, after a competitive pitch, to develop a branding and retail strategy to develop the brand’s reputation as a leading fashion store, amongst China’s fashion conscious youth. 
 
DDB will be responsible for strategic planning for seasonal product launches, as well as creative development for its advertising campaigns.
 
“C&A is already popular in tier one and tier two cities and recognizes the significant opportunity to create a strong fashion story and reputation for the brand in China. The upcoming campaign is quite dynamic and we expect it to really connect with China’s trendy, image conscious youth market,” said Jesse Lin, Vice President and Managing Director, DDB China.
 
C&A, a solid fashion brand with a heritage that dates back to 1841, was launched in China in 2007 and currently has stores in Liaoning, Beijing, Henan, Jiangsu and Shanghai. DDB China’s first one-month campaign with the brand, Bottoms, resulted in a sales increase of 156% for women’s jeans and trousers and 84% for men’s jeans, year-on-year growth.
