Coca-Cola drives the Happiness Truck to Marikina City

PHILIPPINES, FEBRUARY 24, 2011 – Where did happiness strike next? Marikina City was the second destination of the Happiness Truck following its first appearance in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Happiness Machine-on-wheels has brought smiles and cheers in the valley and along the riverbanks.

Aside from bottles of Coke, the Happiness Trucks spewed out footballs, an inflatable toy, a surfboard in Rio, and stuffed and battery-operated toys, roses for the ladies, a skateboard and even a whole lechon baboy (roast pig) in Marikina. The Philippine video may have a lot of catching up to do with over 23,000 views in three days versus Rio’s 210,000+ views in six days, but judging from the queues and reactions of the crowd, the Marikina outing was a hit in the flesh, as well as on Facebook, with a combined total of over 11,000 users sharing the link.

The Happiness Machine and Happiness Truck campaigns were developed at Definition 6, Atlanta, with the Philippine leg handled by McCann Worldgroup. The campaign include social media: a website with the Twitter hashtag #wwhsn and a "Like" button, and a Facebook app  linked to the YouTube videos.
